Garbage

& Recycling

The City of Miramichi enacted By-law 114 in January 2022 that changed the way waste is collected. Since the new by-law went into effect, over 6,000 tonnes of waste have been collected and 820 tonnes of recyclables have been diverted from the landfill.

Residential waste is only picked up from city approved 360 litre garbage containers. Additional bags of garbage can be disposed by affixing a sticker to it. Stickers can be purchased for $2 each at City Hall, Miramichi Police Station, and Public Works office, Petro-Canada locations, and N&J Convenience.

Our recycling program is now managed by Circular Materials, the administrator of the common collection system and a not-for-profit organization that is committed to building an efficient and effective recycling system in New Brunswick. Click here to visit Circular Materials’ website.
