“We are excited to host a week-long celebration in Miramichi for the total solar eclipse,” said Mayor Adam Lordon. “There will be something for everyone to enjoy leading up to this significant event on April 8th.”

The celebration begins on Wednesday, April 3rd with the Brilliant Labs Innovation in Education Gala, an award ceremony to celebrate creative innovations in Education across Atlantic Canada.

On Thursday, April 4th, Brilliant Labs will host the Atlantic Canadian School Innovation Fair in partnership with the City, Anglophone North School District and NB EECD. The fair will feature student STEAM projects, workshops, an interactive dark room, and light-themed showcase.

Astronomy East will host a three-day conference from April 5th to April 7th featuring guest speakers, workshops, panels, and vendors. There will be star gazing opportunities in the evenings.

The Newcastle Business District will host a three-day music festival with live performances at various venues located in the business district. T

he light and sound drone show, Illuminate the Night Sky will take place Saturday night, April 6th at the Miramichi Airport.

Then on Monday afternoon, April 8th is the total solar eclipse. Everyone is welcome to the viewing area at the Miramichi Airport to watch the eclipse with family and friends. There will be food trucks, vendors, and music on site.

The City will provide protective glasses to wear during the eclipse.

“Since we are in the path of totality and one of the best places in North America to experience the eclipse, we hope many will join us that day!" said Lordon.

For more information on events go to Total Eclipse Totale. While access to the Miramichi Airport for the drone show on April 6th and eclipse viewing is free, space is limited. Please reserve your spot through Eventbrite for both.
